Upon arriving at the Lion, we were met by a warm and approachable proprietor, creating an inviting first impression. The property is undergoing a transformation and boasts charming boutique decor, combined with ample outdoor space-a marquee for inclement weather is a thoughtful addition. The spacious room offered a comfortable sitting area and delightful inclusions such as electric kettle, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi. While the exceptional cleanliness of the bathroom was noteworthy, I would have appreciated a cooked breakfast option alongside the continental fare provided, especially as I have experienced this in several Cotswolds hotels. Dining at the pub was a highlight with an excellent menu, and I can attest to the quality of the dishes, particularly the beef. The atmosphere was lively and conducive to relaxation after a day of exploring. Though the financial aspect leans toward the higher end for some amenities, the thoughtful service, local insights, and well-maintained spaces present considerable value for travelers seeking both comfort and an authentic experience.
